시험을 위해서 열심히 배우고 외웠지만 막상 쓸 땐 막막할 수 있어요.

그래서 오늘은 TED-Ed의 흥미로운 영상 "McDonald's Cup Sizes Around The World"을 보며

전 세계 맥도날드 컵 사이즈를 비교해보며 진짜 비교급/최상급을 써보는 활동을 해볼거에요.

 

 

1. ✨  문법 그 자체보다, 진짜 상황에서 써보자!

우리는 문법 책에서 “bigger, the biggest” 같은 표현들을 배웠어요. 그런데 실제로는 언제 이런 표현을 쓸까요?

📌 비교급 (Comparatives) - 더 ~한

• 형용사 + -er: tall → taller / small → smaller
• more + 형용사 (2음절 이상): expensive → more expensive
• than과 함께 사용: "This cup is bigger than that one."

📌 최상급 (Superlatives) : 가장 ~한

• the + 형용사 + -est: tall → the tallest / big → the biggest
• the most + 형용사: expensive → the most expensive
• "This is the smallest cup I’ve ever seen."

✅ 주의해야 할 불규칙 변화

-er/-est 형태가 아닌 불규칙적으로 변화하는 형용사들은 암기 필수!

5. ✍️ 실전 과제: 직접 써보기

영상에서 본 내용을 바탕으로 각 나라별 다른 컵사이즈들을 비교하는 글을 써봅니다. 

💬 Example 1 (난이도 하)

In the video, the cup from the US is bigger than the cup from Japan. The smallest cup is from Japan, and the largest is from Canada. It was interesting to see how sizes are different around the world.

 

 

💬 Example 2 (난이도 중)

I was surprised that the medium cup in the US is almost the same size as the large cup in Singapore. Canada had the biggest cup, and Japan had the smallest. It was fun to compare the sizes, and I think the US has the most generous portion.

 

 

 

💬 Example 3 (난이도 상)

This video clearly shows how portion sizes vary globally. The US medium cup was larger than most countries’ large cups, which reflects cultural expectations. Canada and Singapore had the highest volume overall, but Japan’s design was the most compact.
